Captured over the last 12 months, this new collection of 20 paintings marks a profound creative homecoming. After returning to the North Midlands three years ago after over 40 years of living in the Cambridgeshire Fens, the artist, Dan Donovan, found renewed inspiration in the landscapes of the region. In ‘WOOD LAND DALE,’ the artist creates a visual conversation between two personally significant landscapes: the surrounding woodlands of his current home in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and the rolling, nostalgic vistas of his childhood in Derbyshire.
“An expressive approach sits at the heart of my work. I favour simple, bold, intuitive marks that shy away from detail. Guided by observation and instinct, I prioritise emotion and impression over literal representation.”
